Wildlife Biologist- Barbara Webb
tells us of the 10 different species of bats that live in the cave. They are insect eating, and they hibernate in the winter, and of a Nationwide issue; White Nose Syndrome. This syndrome;
- is an illness
- likes the cold
- caused by fungus
- causes itching
- grows on the wings
- sets in, grows, itches, wakes up (from hibernation)
- brought by travelers from Europe
- Millions of bats have died from it
- Has not made it across the Rocky Mountains
Her Job- collect bats with a mesh net and weighs, identifies, basically gives bats a good health check.
